Left Field Brewery

To be open to the public in early 2015!

We couldn’t be happier to share the news that we’ve secured a building in Leslieville and that work is underway to transform the space into the home of our future brewery.

The 6,000 square foot, 20 hectolitre brewery, tasting room and retail store will be located at 36 Wagstaff Drive, a small laneway south west of Danforth and Greenwood, at the north end of Leslieville. As you can see from this picture, the space is an old one and it needs some love and attention. As far as we’ve been able to find, the building may have originally been used as an old brick factory in the early 1900s. That’s just one of the many things that we loved about it when we first discovered it. Our plan is to restore as much of the building as possible to its original charm.

For those of you who have followed-along with our journey so far, you’ll know that Mark and I launched Left Field Brewery last April and that we’ve been brewing Mark’s recipes under contract at both Grand River and Barley Days Breweries. Since our launch last spring, our beers have exclusively been available on draught at more than 60 better food and beer spots throughout the GTA.

Many of you have asked us where you can find our beer for purchase in cans and bottles. One of the best things about this news is that with the increased capacity that we’ll have with our own brewery, we’ll finally be able to offer our beers for home consumption. Our packaging plans include tall cans of Eephus Oatmeal Brown Ale, Maris* Pale Ale and 6-4-3 Double IPA, and small-format growlers (750 mL) of one-off and seasonal brews like Resin Bag IPA.

The inevitable question that I’m sure you’re asking is “when?” Our target is to have the brewery fully up and running and our doors open to the public by early 2015. I can assure you that nobody wants our doors open more than the two of us, so we’ll be working our tails off to make it happen as quickly as possible.

For anyone who’s interested in taking a peek at what the pre-construction brewery space looks like, in sampling the beer or in just popping-by to say hello, we’ll be hosting an Open House on Saturday February 22nd from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. inside the soon-to-be brewery at 36 Wagstaff Drive.

Telegramme Prints & Custom Framing

I had to take a minute to give praise to this place! I’ve had 4 pieces framed here now. The first 2 were a couple of years back and when I went in recently to have 2 more pieces framed, Oliver remembered my name when I walk in! Granted my name is Ford which is somewhat unusual but I was overly impressed that he would remember it after that long. The service here is awesome and so is the quality of their framing. They also have lots of great prints available for purchase. Most of you probably know of Telegramme but if you haven’t checked them out yet, you should!
